Real gratitude is more than idle statements of thanks, although expressing our thanks verbally is often a good first step.  We should show our gratitude by demonstrating genuine care and appreciation for the good things we have available to us.  We should be considerate of the needs of those whose labor has aided us.  Choosing to be cognizant of a thing or person’s history helps to avoid taking things for granted, and aids us in preserving our fortune for the future.
