Developing our powers of perception both individually and institutionally helps us discover critical pieces of information and save ourselves from danger.  By choosing to actively be in the present moment, we are more likely to see how the world around us really is, rather than how our ego assumes it to be.  By paying attention to details we gather more clues, and by consistent observation we can identify patterns.  We should take time to actively engage our five senses, as well as to use any other useful measuring tools we have to learn more about the world around us.
